Pragya Kanodia
Founder & Executive Director

Pragya Kanodia is an actuary with over 15 years of experience in the insurance and risk industry. She has worked across capital management, product development, and financial reporting, developing a practical understanding of how actuarial work supports decision-making in complex business environments.

The idea for the London Institute of Actuarial Studies (LIAS) came from her experience mentoring early-career actuaries and recognising the need for graduates to be better prepared for the realities of the profession. Her aim is to create an institute that combines strong academic foundations with practical, hands-on experience.

As Founder, she focuses on building partnerships, guiding the academic direction, and ensuring the curriculum remains aligned with Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) standards and the evolving requirements of the industry. She is particularly committed to creating opportunities for students to develop not just their technical knowledge, but also the communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills that are essential in the workplace.
